Overview

Referrer (transition source) restriction is a function that restricts access to Teachme Biz public folders and manuals within folders based on the referrer URL (the link source URL when moving to a page).

Public folders can be viewed even by users who are not logged into Teachme Biz (do not have an account), but this function allows for restricting the viewing path.

* This function may not be available depending on your subscription plan.

Conditions for viewing

Access folders or manuals within folders when any of the following applies.

  1. Access from a registered referrer (a page allowed as a transition source)
  2. Within 5 minutes after item 1 is executed

If conditions 1 and 2 are met, the following operations can be performed without going through the referrer each time.

  • Click the manual list screen of the applicable folder to open a manual within the folder
  • Click a link within a manual to open another manual within the folder
  • Click a link within a manual to open the manual list screen of the applicable folder

Timing when viewing becomes unavailable

Manuals within the folder can no longer be viewed if any of the following applies. To view again, access must be made again from a registered referrer.

  • When 5 minutes or more have passed since accessing from a registered referrer
  • When accessing a different folder that has referrer restrictions or password protection
  • When the "Transition Source URL" setting of the folder is changed

Registration examples

  • Allow "xxx.example.com" and "yyy.example.com" Register "example.com"
  • Allow "xxx.example.com" and "yyy.example.com" but not "zzz.example.com" Register "xxx.example.com,yyy.example.com"

Notes and supplements

  • Referrer restriction functions cannot be used if referrer information does not remain due to the environment of the page allowed as the transition source. However, there is a possibility to avoid the problem by implementing a "meta referrer" tag that can specify the transmission of the referrer when clicking a link to move between pages. For details, check with the provider of the environment for the page allowed as the transition source.
  • Specified referrer URLs are judged by partial matches. Be careful not to allow transitions from unintended pages when registering strings that do not include a unique domain, or when there are multiple pages under the registered URL.
  • If parameters starting with "?" are included during registration, such as "[xxx.example.com/search](https://www.google.com/search?q=https://xxx.example.com/search)?query=keyword", viewing is permitted only when the parameters also match. Since parameters may be lost when sending referrers depending on browser settings, registration including parameters is not recommended.
