Overview
Referrer restriction is a feature that limits access to Teachme Biz's externally shared folders and manuals within those folders based on the URL of the referrer (the source page from which a user navigated).
While externally shared folders can be viewed by users without logging in to Teachme Biz (those who don't have an account), this feature allows you to restrict the browsing path.
*This feature may not be available depending on your subscription plan.
Conditions for Viewing
You can access a folder or manuals within the folder if either of the following conditions is met:
- Access from a registered referrer (a page that is allowed as a source)
- Within 5 minutes after condition 1 is fulfilled
If conditions 1 and 2 are met, you can perform the following operations without going through the referrer each time:
- Click on the manual list screen of the applicable folder to open a manual within the folder
- Click on a link within a manual to open a different manual within the folder
- Click on a link within a manual to open the manual list screen of the applicable folder
When Viewing Becomes Restricted
Access to manuals within the folder will be restricted if any of the following conditions apply:
To view again, you must access through the registered referrer once more.
- When more than 5 minutes have passed since accessing from a registered referrer
- When accessing a different folder that has referrer or password restrictions
- When the "Source URL" setting for the folder is changed
Registration Examples
- If you want to allow "xxx.example.com" and "yyy.example.com"
→ Register "example.com" - If you want to allow "xxx.example.com" and "yyy.example.com" but not "zzz.example.com"
→ Register "xxx.example.com,yyy.example.com"
Limits of the Referrer Restriction Function
Number of Source URLs (Referrers)
- Multiple registrations are possible using commas as separators
However, the maximum limit is 1,000 characters in total for all registered referrers including the comma separators
Notes and Additional Information
- If referrer information is not retained due to the environment of the allowed source page, the referrer restriction function cannot be used.
However, implementing the "meta referrer" tag, which can specify referrer transmission when clicking links to navigate between pages, may help resolve this issue.
For details, please check with the provider of the environment for the allowed source page. -
The specified referrer URLs are matched partially.
When registering text strings that don't include a custom domain, or when there are multiple pages under the registered URL, please be careful to avoid unintentionally allowing transitions from unintended pages. - If you register a URL with parameters that start with "?", such as "xxx.example.com/search?query=search-term", viewing will only be allowed when the parameters also match. Since browser settings may cause parameters to be omitted when sending referrers, we do not recommend including parameters in registration.
