Overview
The referrer restriction feature limits access to Folders released outside and the manuals within those folders in Teachme Biz, based on the referrer URL (the URL of the page from which the user navigated).
Folders released outside can be viewed by users who are not logged into Teachme Biz (i.e., users without an account), but this feature allows you to restrict the browsing path.
※This feature may not be available depending on your subscription plan.
Conditions for Viewing
You can access a folder or the manuals within a folder if any of the following conditions are met:
- Access from a registered referrer (a page permitted as a referrer)
- Within 5 minutes after condition 1 has been fulfilled
If both conditions 1 and 2 are met, the following operations can be performed without going through the referrer each time.
- Clicking the manual list screen of the relevant folder to open a manual within the folder
- Clicking a link within a manual to open another manual within the folder
- Clicking a link within a manual to open the manual list screen of the relevant folder
When Access is Lost
If any of the following conditions apply, manuals within the folder will no longer be viewable.
To view them again, you will need to access them again from the registered referrer.
- When 5 or more minutes have passed since accessing from the registered referrer
- When accessing a different folder that has a referrer restriction or password restriction applied
- When the "Referrer URL" setting of the folder has been changed
Registration Examples
- To allow "xxx.example.com" and "yyy.example.com"
→ Register as "example.com" - To allow "xxx.example.com" and "yyy.example.com" but not "zzz.example.com"
→ Register as "xxx.example.com,yyy.example.com" - To allow viewing via a link placed on the page "https://xxx.example.com/portal/manual"
→ Register as "xxx.example.com" (do not include "/portal/manual")
Referrer Restriction Feature Limits
Number of Referrer URLs
- Multiple entries can be registered using a comma as a delimiter.
However, the total length of all registered referrers, including the comma delimiters, is limited to 1,000 characters.
Notes and Supplementary Information
- Depending on the environment of the permitted referrer page, if referrer information is not retained, the referrer restriction feature cannot be used.
However, it may be possible to work around this issue by implementing a "meta referrer" tag, which can specify the sending of referrer information when navigating to a page via a link click.
For details, please check with the provider of the environment for the permitted referrer page. -
The specified referrer URL is evaluated based on the domain.
If you register without "https://" (e.g., "example.com"), access from that domain and its subdomains (e.g., xxx.example.com) will be permitted.
If you register with "https://" (e.g., "https://example.com"), only access from that exact domain will be permitted (subdomains are not included).
If a port number is included in the registration, access will only be permitted when the port number also matches. -
Register the Referrer URL up to the domain level (e.g., "example.com" or "https://example.com").
If you register a path such as "xxx.example.com/manual" or a parameter starting with "?" such as "xxx.example.com/search?query=Search keywords", viewing will only be permitted when the path or parameter also matches exactly.
Major Browsers, even with their default settings, only send the domain as the referrer when navigating to another site.
Therefore, if you register with a path or parameter included, it will not match, and viewing will not be possible even when navigating from the registered page.
