Differences in behavior between markings and subtitles
The following differences exist in the specifications and behavior of video markings and video subtitles.
Markings
This feature allows you to add diagrams or text to draw attention to specific parts of a video.
The video pauses for a specified number of seconds at the point where a marking is added.
Subtitles
This feature displays text based on the audio or any description in the video as subtitles.
The video does not pause while subtitles are displayed.
There are restrictions on when markings and subtitles can be displayed
Because the video is paused while a marking is displayed, subtitles cannot start or end during the pause period.
When displaying markings and subtitles at the same time, please edit so that the marking display (pause period) falls within the subtitle display period.
Edits that cannot be made
The following edits cannot be made.
Adjust either the marking's pause duration or the subtitle's display time so that it matches the examples shown in "Edits that can be made" described below.
- Setting the marking's pause duration to extend beyond the point where the subtitle ends
- Starting subtitle display while the video is paused due to a marking
Edits that can be made
The marking's pause duration falls within the subtitle's display period
The subtitle and marking do not overlap (not displayed simultaneously)
Subtitles may be deleted when a marking is deleted
If you delete a marking while it overlaps with a subtitle, the marking's pause period is removed,
and any subtitles displayed during that period are also deleted at the same time.
If you want to keep the subtitle, extend the subtitle's display time to be longer than the marking's pause duration before deleting the marking.
If the marking's pause duration and the subtitle's display time are identical, the subtitle will not be retained
If the subtitle's display time is longer than the marking's pause duration, only the portion of the subtitle that does not overlap with the marking will be retained
Sections with markings or subtitles cannot be deleted
Section deletion cannot be performed in ranges where markings or subtitles have been added.
If you want to delete a section, please remove the markings and subtitles from the relevant area before proceeding.
For more details, please refer to the following.
The section delete button is inactive and cannot be clicked. Why?
